Credit card debt deserves special attention because a minimum repayment can look manageable while interest keeps the balance alive for years. Consolidation may help, but only if the old accounts are controlled and the new repayment fits comfortably within the household budget.

It is also sensible to compare options rather than accepting the first offer. Lenders assess income, expenses, credit history and existing commitments differently, so eligibility and pricing can vary. For borrowers with missed payments or bad credit, the available rate may be higher, making careful comparison even more important.

The broader message is simple: personal loans can be a tool, not a cure-all. Used carefully, consolidation can simplify debt management and create a clearer path forward. Used without a budget and repayment plan, it can shift the pressure rather than reduce it.
